Irritated Skin And Rashes

Irritated Skin And Rashes

62% of women say they have reactive, sensitive, irritable, intolerant skin with regard to cosmetics and even water. 32% of men also complain about skin discomfort.

There are several visible signs such as dryness, rosacea, rashes, flaking and peeling skin, but sometimes, it is just a feeling of tightness and stinging which gets worse each time the cosmetic is applied. This discomfort can become permanent and difficult to put up with. It is particularly prevalent in women with fine, fair, dry skin, who are subject to stress and anxiety.

Sensitive skin over-reacts – tightness, stinging, rashes, etc. – to certain factors that are normally well-tolerated such as heat, cold, hard water, spicy food, cosmetics and strong emotions. This increasingly prevalent skin disorder, particularly in women, requires daily attention to prevent flare-ups. The rest of the time, the skin seems normal without any particular characteristics.

Although fine fair skins are the most frequently affected, skin sensitivity can concern all skin types – normal, greasy, dry or combination. Skin sensitivity is mainly seen on the face and sometimes the neck.

Certain skin types are sensitive by nature and remain so throughout the person’s life. Their reactiveness however tends to decrease with age, particularly after menopause for women. Other skin types become sensitive under particular circumstances such as cold, dry air in winter. This type of reactiveness naturally disappears as the warmer weather approaches.

Sensitive skin is due to a combination of two factors:

  • The skin barrier function is diminished and the epidermis no longer provides protection against environmental factors. Potentially irritant agents penetrate the epidermis and trigger inflammatory reactions. At the same time, water loss is increased and the skin is more easily dehydrated.
  • The skin’s tolerance level is lower. The slightest aggression produces an abnormally high quantity of inflammation messenger molecules (cytokines). This skin sensitivity can be related not only to genetic factors, but also to psychological factors (the skin is the mirror of our emotions and inner turmoil can lead to hyper reactivity) and external factors (excessive use of aggressive cosmetics, immoderate exposure to the sun, chemical and laser peeling).

Sensitive skin, which is fragile and irritable, requires particular attention on an everyday basis. Special skin care products combined with a few good habits should limit the number of flare-ups:

  • Learn to recognise the factors that trigger your cutaneous reactions and avoid them as much as possible.
  • Do not use soap on your skin, as it is too harsh, and avoid scrubs and chemical peelings, which are often too aggressive.
  • Only use dermocosmetics and make-up especially designed for sensitive skin, which is fragrance-free, preservative-free and hypoallergenic.
  • During the day, moisturise your skin with a cream for sensitive skin. • At night, nourish it with a richer cream.
  • Before adopting a new cosmetic product, test it on an area that is not very visible, such as behind the ear or on the neck.
  • Before adopting a new cosmetic product, test it on an area that is not very visible, such as behind the ear or on the neck.
  • Whenever possible, do not wash your face with tap water, as it is often very hard. Use a thermal spring water spray instead and pat dry with a tissue.
  • If your skin remains reactive despite all these precautions, it is important to see a dermatologist.

EVOSKIN® Repair

EVOSKIN® Repair is a dermocosmetic product designed to soothe reactive skin and rapidly relieve redness, stinging and irritation, and even intense burns caused by various types of external factors (excessive sun exposure, radiation therapy, dermatological laser procedures, chemical peeling, etc.)

EVOSKIN® Repair is based on three factors:

  • The intrinsic properties of EVAUX® hyperthermal spring water, particularly its softness, its high silicon content (moisturising and regenerating) and the presence of lithium whose soothing properties are recognised in dermatology.
  • The very low fat content of the formula which gives the product a very light texture (preferable in the skin folds) and is extremely refreshing when applied, which is highly beneficial in the areas concerned.
  • The choice of ingredients, designed to minimise the risk of intolerance reactions, and especially that of sensitisation (contact allergy): a hypoallergenic product that is fragrance-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free.

EVOSKIN® Repair has good skin compatibility because it has a pH close to 6, the average value observed on the skin’s surface.

EVOSKIN® Repair acts rapidly

  • When the epidermis is irritated and dry, thanks to the revitalising, moisturising power of thermal silicon,
  • Due to the presence of thermal lithium which soothes induced redness and stinging. – due to the presence of thermal lithium which soothes induced redness and stinging. It has a soothing effect on the intensity of stinging and reduces its average duration from 15 to 1 minute.

In the long term, irritability of the skin is largely improved. According to an assessment carried out under dermatological control, after 4 weeks of treatment, the cutaneous reactivity evaluated by the stinging test was reduced significantly by 82%*.
